In no particular order.
1. The Fall
The incredible visual splendor of the movie is shown in all its magnificence, but ultimately serves to promise a film so amazing it cannot actually exist.
2. Unbreakable
True story: a former roommate of mine saw Unbreakable because of this trailer. When the trailer came on tv again later in the week she thought, "wow, I need to see that", forgetting she'd already seen it that very day because the movie was so unlike the trailer, ie a total piece of crap.
3. 300
Similar to The Fall, this trailer showcases astonishing visuals that promise something too badass to be real. I believe someone on Metafilter referred to the 300 trailer as a director's cut preferable to the theatrical version of the movie.
4. The Matrix Reloaded
Just watching this again makes me see red. I was 17 when this trailer came out, and it was easily the most excited I'd ever been for a movie in my entire life. Before this? Episode 1. I've had a deep suspicion of hype ever since.
5. Where the Wild Things Are
The trailer compresses the entire emotional spectrum of the film into two breathtaking minutes. As with 300, you really don't need to see the movie after viewing this.
